<br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />J ... i'l <br />"I 01 n t !J <br />~._ '10' . <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />The study considers the protection of: a 300 cfs year-round trout <br /> <br />flow in the 29-mile reach; a 2000 cfs endangered fish flow in August and <br /> <br />September at Westwater on the Colorado River near the state line below the <br /> <br />Gunnison River confluence; and 600 cfs boating flow in the 29-mile reach <br /> <br />from June to September. <br /> <br />The study aSSUMes that instream flows in the 29-mile reach can be <br /> <br />protected: <br /> <br />By calling water under the 1969 decree (1965 appropriation datel for <br /> <br />the 300 cfs of direct flow water rights to be donated by the <br /> <br />Pittsburgh & Midway Coal Mining Company (P&Ml, and by making Blue <br />Mesa storage releases keyed to a 200 cfs flow in the 29-mile reach; <br /> <br />or <br /> <br />By just making Blue Mesa storage releases keyed to a 300 cfs flow in <br />the 29-mile reach; or <br /> <br />By calling water under the 300 cfs P&M direct flow water right, by <br /> <br />making Blue Mesa storage releases keyed to a 300 cfs flow, and by <br /> <br />calling water froM June through September under a 600 cfs direct <br /> <br />flow, federally reserved, wilderness water right with a 1976 <br /> <br />priori ty date. <br /> <br />The study assumes that the 2000 cfs endangered fish flow at <br /> <br />Westwater can be protected by making Blue Mesa storage releases keyed to a <br /> <br />300 cfs flow in the 29-mile reach, and by making an additional 400 cfs <br /> <br />WBLA, Inc. 1909 Broadway, 13, Boulder, Colorado 80302 <br />
