Data and Assumptions

A. Period of Record

The analysis was done on a historic, water year basis (October through

September). The period of record was from 1952 through 1983. Diversions

at the Gunnison Tunnel were highly developed during this period, with no

discernible trend.

(See Appendix C.) This period also contains a wide

range of hydrologic conditions with significant dry periods. Figure 2 is

a hydrograph of the annual virgin flows above Crystal for this period.

These virgin flows average 1.22 million acre feet per year, while the

virgin flows over a longer 1906-1983 period average 1.32 million acre feet

per year.

B. Ir,flow Data

The inflow data for the model consists of undepleted virgir, flows.

Inflow data sets above four locations were necessary for the model: Taylor

Park, Blue Mesa, Morrow Point and Crystal. It was assumed that no gains

accrued to the Gunnison River below Crystal. All inflow data have been

taken from USBR input data for the CRSS studies.

WBLA, Inc. 1909 Broadway, #3, Boulder, Colorado 80302
