<br />Dallas Creek Project <br /> <br />S~ary Analysis <br /> <br />I. Introduction <br /> <br />The Dallas Creek Project is located in the Uncompahgre Valley of <br /> <br />Western Colorado in portions of Montrose, Delta, and Ouray Counties. The <br /> <br />project was authorized for construction under the Colorado River Basin <br /> <br />Act (P.L. 90-537) of September 30, 1968, and as a participating project <br />, ' <br /> <br />under the Colorado River Storage Project Act of April 11, 1956 (P.L. 84-485), <br />Present costs of the project are estimated at $54,400,000. <br /> <br />Storage in the only project feature, Ridgway Dam and Reservoir, would <br />increase usable water supplies by an average of 39,000 acre-feet annually <br />including 11,200 acre-feet for supplemen~a1 irrigation for 64,660 acres of <br />presently irrigated land, 22,600 acre-feet for municipal uses throughout <br />the Uncompahgre Valley, 5,500 for light industrial use, and 100 acre-feet <br />. for recreational purposes. Recreation and fish and wildlife developments <br /> <br />are included in the project plan to provide recreation and fishing <br /> <br />opportunities. <br /> <br />A draft environmental statement was filed on March 8, 1976, and <br /> <br />the final statement on September 28, 1976. The definite plan report was <br /> <br />completed in November 1976. <br /> <br />The Tri-County Water Conservancy District, the local sponsor for the <br /> <br />project, signed a repayment contract with the United States on January 14, <br /> <br />1977. <br /> <br />The Dallas Creek Project's present plan, of development was modified <br /> <br />to reflect the recommendations of the State of Colorado. <br />
