P.L. 93-320, the Colorado River Basin Salinity

Control Act, passed June 24, 1974, authorized construction

of four salinity control units and study of additional

units. Installation of all these units would reduce the

concentration at Imperial Dam by an estimate of 171 mg/l

by the year 2000.

f. Inducement for flood plain development: None

g. Existing and potential recreation uses:

(1) Type and magnitude: Two major recreation areas and

associated facilities including boat ramps and marinas,

camp and picnic grounds, trails and overlooks, and water

sanitary facilities would be constructed. A large minimum

pool of 25,000 acre-feet would be maintained in Ridgway

Reservoir. Project plans include improved flows and water

quality in the Uncompahgre River, public fishing easements

on 12 miles of river, acquisition of big game range, and

provisions of deer-proof fencing along U.S, Highway 550.
