The Sawatch Range' separates the <br />northern part of the basin from the headwaters of the Gunnison River, the <br />Roaring Fork, and the Eagle River, all in the Colorado River basin, and the <br />Culebra and Sangre de Cristo Ranges separate the southern part of the basin <br />from the Rio Grande headwaters. The mountains in these three ranges are among <br />the highest in the Nation, with 23 peaks more than 14,000 feet. Streambed <br />elevation at the point the Arkansas River flows into Kansas is 3,350 feet. . <br /> <br />6 <br />
