At some of the stations, it
was not possible to obtain evaporation records through-
out the winter period.

The measurements of evaporation were made in accord-
ance with standard practice for the type of pan in use.
Measurements of precipitation were made in standard 8-inch
rain gages, which were supplemented at some of the stations
by recording rain gages.

Records for the evaporation stations at Agricultural
College, Elephant Butte Dam and EI Vado Dam antedated the
creation of the Commission; the station at Bosque del
Apache was established for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service; the station at Jemez Canyon Dam was established
for the Corps of Engineers. All others were established
at the request of the Commission.

The Rio Grande Compact Commission gratefully acknow-
ledges the cooperation of the U.S. Weather Bureau and U.S.
Bureau of Reclamation for furnishing the climatological
records contained in this report.
