Interest in these problems <br />and in the work of the Conference has been widely <br />expressed in educational and other circles in the <br />United Stutes. This work and its development <br />along sound and practical lines are of the highest <br />importance, <br />Mr. Fulbright, a member of Congress from <br />Arkansas, is a member of the House Committee on <br />Foreign Affairs, Mr. MacLeish, who has been <br />Librurian, of Congress since 1939, is a member of <br />the American Commission for the Protection and <br />Sulvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments in <br />Europe. Dr, Studebaker has served as United <br />States Commissioner of Education since 1934, <br />Dr. Kefauver, who has been professor of education <br />and dean of the School of Education at Stanford <br />University since 1933, has served since December <br />1943 as Consultant to the Deportment of State. <br />Dr. Turner is Assistant Chief of the Division of <br />Science, Education, and Art of the Department <br />of State. ' <br /> <br />II Treaty Information <br /> <br />HALIBUT FISHERY REGULATIONS OF 1944 <br /> <br />By a note dated March 18, 1944 the Canadian <br />Ambassador in WlIShington transmitted to the <br />Secretary of State Orner in Council No. 1486 dated <br />March 7, 1944 issued by the Governor General of <br />Canada approving the '1944 Halibut Fishery Regn- <br />lations, which were prepared by the Intel'Ilational <br />Fisheries Commission pursuant to articles I and <br />III of the Convention between the United States <br />and Canada for the Preservation of the Halibut <br />Fishery of the Northern Pacific Ocean and Bering <br />Sea, signed at Washington on January 29, 1937 <br />(Treaty Series 917), <br />The President of the United States approved <br />the regulations on March 20, 1944. <br />The above-mentioned regulations, which will be <br />printed in the Federal Register, supersede the 1943 <br />regulations approved by the President on Feb- , <br />ruary 15, 1943, which were published in the Fed, <br />eral Register of March 2, 1943, pages 2608-2610, <br />
