<br />Lake Pawell has been aperated during water
<br />year 1973 as part of the Colorado River Storage
<br />Praject in accordance with governing compacts
<br />and laws to provide optimum power production,
<br />recreation opportunities, and fish and wildlife
<br />benefits. The order issued by the Federal Dis-
<br />trict Court in Salt Lake City on February 27,
<br />1973, to limit the storage of water in Lake Po-
<br />well to a maximum, level of elevation 3,606
<br />feet, the boundary of Rainbow Bridge National
<br />Monument, resulted in the release to the Lower
<br />Basi n of about 1,425,000 acre-feet of woter
<br />that under the existing criteria promulgated un-
<br />der PoLo 90-537 would hove been stored in Lake
<br />Powell. Consequently, a totol of 10,111,000
<br />acre-feet was released from Lake Powell during
<br />water year 1973, with 10,141,000 passing the
<br />Compact, Poi nt at Lee Ferry, Ari zona. The
<br />1964-73 10-year d8!ivery to the Lower Basin waS

<br />On September 30, 1972, the surface of lake
<br />Powell was at elevation 3,603'feet with an active
<br />storage of i 2,488, 000 acre-feet. An all -time
