Listed belO1~ and on the control schedules are the Region 7 requiroements
for sediment investigations for F. Y. 1973-1978. The priorities on the
schedule sheets are for Fiscal Year 1973 only. All samples for normal
stations are to be taken at a common section. Wading sampling by equal
transit rate is acceptable. Special or specific requirements nor common
to all stations are listed on the lines or discussed in this narrative.
Requirements for normal stations or those not discussed in this narrative
are:

Daily Sediment Sampling Stations

1. Hean daily concentrations.
2. One size analysis of suspended material per' month.
3. Size analyses of representative bed mater'ial u!'d.:il beu matey.'ial
is defined. Size determination bv sedimentation diameters when
possible.
It. Obtain Hater temperature each time engineer takes samples.

Periodic Sediment Sampling Stations

1. TWenty suspended concentration samples per veal" plus additional
concentration samples at high and 101~ stage,
2. Of the .20 samples above. obtain 10 measurements per yeal' during
the first two years of data collection, spread from high to 10H
stage. and include size analyses of suspended and bed material
with discharge measurement data of discharge. mean velocity,
mean depth. area and width. After two years of data have been
collected, the number of detailed measurements should be reduced
to 3 to 5 measurements per year.

~~:~':;:'~:,
'.~. Obtain six to 10 suspended sediment samples per veal' at high
flows. Emphasis should be placed on obtaining samples at flOl-/S
in exce~~ of the flow indicated in the narrative for the station.

~:~\~~~::

.'~ <."-
:~~:~~:
"';,. ~.:<

'..,:.,..;,

,"'.

.,5

-f'
, ,. .'~
:-":,;.';'>
