They provided an <br />opportunity to sample the fish population at different flows. Osmundson et al. (1995) <br />made instream flow recommendations for the IS-Mile Reach based on a study of habitat <br />availability for endangered fish. The recommendations from Osmundson et al (1995) <br />were somewhat complex because they wanted to avoid using a single minimum flow. <br />These instream flow recommendations were provided as mean monthly (not mean daily) <br />minimums flows. They varied by season and depending on wet, average and dry flow- <br />year categories determined from historic flow data. The lowest mean monthly flow <br />recommendation was 810 cfs (Table]), which should only occur at the same frequency <br />as dry years, which was defined as two in ten years. In half the years, the mean monthly <br />minimum flow for August to September should exceed 1630 cfs (Table I). <br /> <br />9 <br />
