<br />o 0 ll/ti ~i <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DiBcussi~n Draft <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />1721.3 <br /> <br />Criteria <br /> <br />In classifying land the criteria in sections 1721.3-1, <br />.3-2, and .3-3 below will be considered. <br /> <br />I <br />\ <br />\ <br />\ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />If, under these criteria, the land is found suited for <br />either disposal or retention and mansgement, the classifi- <br />cation will be based upon consideration of the relative <br />scarcity of the values involved and the avsilability of <br />-alternative means and sites for realization of those values. <br />The classification will be designed to provide the maximum / <br />benefit for the general public. f <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I: <br /> <br />1721.3-1 <br /> <br />General Criteria <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />The land should be suitable for the purposes for <br />which it is classified. \ <br /> <br />1'( <br />I <br /> <br />(b) The present uSe and ownership of the land, and <br />potential use requirements Will be considered. <br /> <br />(c) Classifications will be consistent with the <br />conservation of natural resources. <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />(d) Any resulting change or lsck of chsnge in lsnd <br />tenure and land use shall be coordinated With State <br />or local governments, and, to the extent practicable <br />will be consistent with State, county, snd other <br />local government master plans and zoning. <br /> <br />I; <br /> <br />"! <br />I <br /> <br />(e) Classifications shall serve the interest of national <br />programs authorized by the Congress, including but <br />not limited to: <br /> <br />(1) Stabilization of the livestock industry dependent <br />upon the public land and protection of the lands <br />and their resources from destruction. or unneces- <br />sary injury (Taylor Grazing Act of June 28, 1934, <br />as amended (43 USC 315 et seq.)). <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />I <br />
