A review of the initial schedule of status reporting also suggests

that such reporting will be more appropriately and adequately performed

u~ice a year, namely, at maximum and minimum reservoir elevation for

the water year, rather than the quarterly basis as originally proposed.

Periodic quarterly inspections to check for any obvious observable
changes in the rock regime will be continued but these observations
will be reported semi-annually unless abnormal events occur.

In past status assessments we have referred to our intention of
installing a micro-seismic instrument at the bridge site to monitor
eqrthquake activity. Unavailability of essential components of radio
equi pment requi red to transmi t data from the proposed Rai nbO\~ Bri dge
seismic monitoring station has delayed completing this unit of the
program. The equipment has now been assembled by the USGS and will
be installed in December 1975 or January 1976. At that time it,wi1l
be activated for monitoring of micro-seismic events that might affect
the bridge. The data will be transmitted by microwave media to the
Earthquake Risk Branch of the USGS at the Colorado School of (,lines in
Golden" Colorado. The Bureau of Reclamation will receive a monthly
report relative to this data. At a later date the USGS may consider
transmittal of data via satellite.
