A map showing the route of the line is included in the <br /> <br />Appendix. <br /> <br />It is planned that the first 430-mw unit will be on line in 1974 <br /> <br />and the second in 1978. Scheduled dates for other units have not been <br /> <br />established. <br /> <br />A progress report summary on the plant as of February 1, 1971, is <br /> <br />included in the Appendix. The transmission line was 80 percent complete <br /> <br />as of February 1, 1971. <br /> <br />Selection of Generating Station Site <br /> <br />The Utah Power & Light Company studied about 17 <br /> <br />possible <br /> <br />sites, beginning in 1967, before a decision was made on the Huntington <br /> <br />Canyon site. <br /> <br />The factors considered in the evaluation of the various sites in- <br /> <br />eluded: <br /> <br />1. Availability and cost of fuel and water. <br /> <br />2. Transmission line location and cost and its environ- <br />mental impact. <br /> <br />3. The prospective location with respect to overall sys- <br />tem reliability and efficiency. <br /> <br />4. Environmental considerations of the generating station <br />such as: <br /> <br />(a) <br />(b) <br />(c) <br />(d) <br />( .\ <br />e, <br />(f) <br />(g) <br /> <br />Stack gap dispersion <br />Fumigation and inversion conditions <br />Aesthetic factors <br />Water quality effects <br />Impact on fish and wildlife <br />Noise impact <br />Effect of coal mining operation <br /> <br />4 <br />
