It is hoped that the Colorado Plateau Environmental Council will <br /> <br />be instrumental in defining the extent of the problem so that appropriate <br /> <br />action may be taken to prevent environmental deterioration from these <br /> <br />potential cumulative effects. <br /> <br />Effects on Resources Under Jurisdiction of Other Federal Agencies <br /> <br />Brief statements by Bureau of Land Management and Federal Highway <br /> <br />Administration on the Huntington Canyon Generating Station and Trans- <br /> <br />mission Lines as they affect the interests of these agencies are in- <br /> <br />cluded in the Appendix. The Bureau of Sport Fisheries ,and Wildlife <br /> <br />is preparing a statement on its study of the effects of the plant on <br /> <br />fish and wildlife resources. <br /> <br />A statement reporting on its multiple-use study of the effect of <br /> <br />the plant on the Manti-La Sal National Forest is being prepared by the <br /> <br />Forest Service. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES TO HUNTINGTON CANYON PLANT <br /> <br />Alternative Location <br /> <br />The basic reasons for selecting the particular location were men- <br /> <br />tioned previously in this report. Economic and institutional factors <br /> <br />related to the availability of coal and water favored the present loca- <br /> <br />tion.
