5. Alternatives for Disposition of or applicatio'n of revenues.
In all cases, the revenues from the sale of M~I \~ater would be deposited in
the Treasury of the U.S. Such amounts must be sufficient to recover the total
costs associated with the deli very of ~I~I water, together with an appropriate :
interest cost. This would appear to meet the legal requirement. 5uch additional:
amounts as are charged might be applied to one or more of the following: '
(1) the basin account to assist in repayment of other reinburseable project
costs; (2) used as justification for the costs of providing or improving
recreation facilities and enhancement of Fish & Wildlife; (3) used as
justification for costs of channel stabilization and protection works;
(4) used as justification for further work on the navigation project or
for increased dredging, or (5) paid to states as compensation for reduced
tax revenues because of land removed from tax rolls. TIle latter item would
require a change in laws and would be difficult if not impossible to administer
equitably because basin states other than the ones where ~I&I water will be
sold may have had land removed from the tax ro lIs.

Prepared by

/~>u-;._./;kd..~~

TIlDmas L.
