Water Supply, Reservoir Operation and Hydrologic Dat.a <br /> <br />At the beginning of the Compact Year 011 No\'ember 1, 19l18. John <br />Martin Reservoir was empty. OUlflow during these two periods an.raged about 28 cfs. <br /> <br />Water in storage at midnight on December 31, 1968. was 7.148 <br />acre-feet based on the ca.pacity table dated April 3, 1967. This storage <br />waS reduced to 6,354 acre-feet based on a new capacity table d,lled <br />January 1. 1909. which was used for the remainder of the Compact <br />Year. On March 31. 1969. storage amounted to 21,813 acre.feet. <br /> <br />Colorado requested release of the river inflow up to 25 cfs at 8:30 <br />a.m. April 1, 1969 until 8:30 a.m. 011 April 28, 1969 when Colorado <br />changed the demand to .!QO cfs on reservoir water, which was the first <br />release of st.orfd water for the year. Kansas demands started all May 2, <br />1969. With the pxception of two periods, 7:30 a.m. to 4;00 p.m. on <br />May 5, 1969. and 6:00 p.m. 011 May 6,1969, to 1:00 p,m. on May 9. <br />1969, when the gates were closed, releases were continued to meet <br />varying demands by both St.ates until the reservoir was declared empty <br />at 9:00 p.m, on July 1:3,1969. Water in storage reached a maXlll\UTl\ of <br />26.615 acre. feet on April 27, 1969. declined to 331 acre-feet on June <br />16,1969, and increased to 20,988 aCle-feet on June 28,1969. <br /> <br />River flow was passed through t.he resen-air until 8:00 a.m. on July <br />21, 1969, when the gat.es were closed to store runoff. Releases of stored <br />water began immediately on demand of COIOTlldo and were increased at <br />1:30 p.m. that day to meet. the demand of Kansas. The reservoir was <br />emptied at midnight on July 27, 1969. l\.Iaximum storage during this <br />period was 4,040 ac,e,{eet Qn July 22,1%9. <br /> <br />River flow was pas,<,ed through the reservoir from midnight on July <br />27, 1969, until the gates were closed again at 8:30 a.m. on August 22. <br /> <br />9 <br />
