Comments were received from twelve <br />agencies or individuals at the meetings, and an additional <br />eight comments were received by mail. As a result of the <br />public input~ the Forum prepared a supplement to the August <br />197$ report which summarized and analyzed the comments <br />received and made modifications in the report based on the <br /> <br />comments. <br /> <br />As each of the Basin states proceeded with its adoption <br /> <br />process, one or more statewide public hearings were held in <br />which comments from the public were invited, Although there <br />were widespread announcement of the Forum and state hearings <br />and a large number of copies of the standards revision were <br />mailed to interested agencies and groups, the extent of <br />public interest exhibited and public participation was <br />limited, <br /> <br />The Forum members participate with the 20$ agencies in <br />matters related to salinity and salinity control. Many of <br />the 20$ agencies have public advisory committees which are <br />kept apprised of not only 20$ interests but also the activi- <br />ties of the Forum and its program of salinity control. <br />This annual progress report of the Forum receives wide <br />distribution within each of the basin states. <br />Environmental Defense Fund Lawsuit <br />On August 22, 1977, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) <br />filed a complaint containing six counts in the U.S. District Court <br /> <br />30 <br />
