In order to <br /> <br />expedite the planning studies, the Bureau of Reclamation has <br /> <br /> <br />awarded a contract for the feasibility level studies and <br /> <br />report on the Meeker Dome Unit to a consulting engineering <br />firm, CH2M-Hill, <br />The combined status report on the Palo Verde Irrigation <br />District (PVID) Unit, California, and Colorado River Indian <br />Reservation (CRIR) Unit, Arizona, scheduled for completion <br />in 1978, is being separated into a status report for PVID <br />and a concluding report for CRIR at the request of the <br />Commissioner. USBR studies concluded there was little or <br /> <br />no potential for salinity reduction from water system <br /> <br /> <br />improvements in either PVID or CRIR, At present, the CRIR <br /> <br />area is acting as a salt sink and therefore not contributing <br />to the river's salinity, The estimated release dates are <br /> <br />PVID, 11/79 and CRIR, 10/79. <br /> <br />During the 1979 fiscal year, the level of funding for <br />the Water Quality Improvement Program was $1,970,000.
