Ingles <br />Director, Regional Office, Region 7 <br />Building 20, Denver Federal Center <br />Denver, Colorado 80225 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Ingles: <br /> <br />Your letter of 13 M/3.rch 1969 asked for updated flood control beneti ts <br />to be used in the reevaluation statement for the Narrows Unit, South <br />Platte Division, Colorado, Missouri River Basin Project. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The average annual equivalent flood control benefits for the Narrows <br />Unit, based on a 3.25 percent interest rate, would be $1,334,000 and <br />$1,599,000 under 50-year and 100.year periods of analysis, respectively. <br />Under a 4.625 percent interest rate, these values would be $1,233,000 <br />and $1,398,000, respectively. The change from previous values is a <br />result of the' increase in price levels to the December 1968 index and <br />the use of econolllic projections from the comprehensive basin framework <br />planning studies. <br /> <br />We have not completed our evaluation of the benefits for the diversion. <br />In a telephone conversation on 4 April 1969 between Mr. Augberg of your <br />staff and Mr. Velehradsk;y' of this office, it was decided that the bene- <br />fits for the diversion would be forwarded at a. later date. <br /> <br />Your letter also asked for a report on the status of our studies in <br />the Bljou Creek 'basin. In January 1969, we separated our studies of <br />the Bijou Creek 'basin from the South Platte River investigation. An <br />interim report will be prepared and forwarded to our higher authority <br />for review by December 1969. Our studies to date indica.te that a. system <br />of three dams in the Bijou Creek 'basin would be economically feasible. <br />Additional studies are being made on a.lternative systems. <br /> <br />, <br />
