It was requested by
Region 7, Bureau of Reclamation, with concurrence by the Bureau of
Outdoor Recreation in a March 7, 1969 memorandum from the Regional
Director, Mid-Continent Region, to this office.

The updating of the estimated recreation development costs and mone-
tar,y benefits attributed to the recreation development is required
at this time due to the increase in construction and recreation costs,
the increase in population within the reservoir's zone of recreation
influence, and the increase in vehicular traffic.

Regarding the latter two factors, the estimated visitor use of
recreation facilities in the 1966 report was based upon the 1960
census data. According to t;1e Januar,y 1968 population figures
released by the Colorado Division of Accounts and Controls of the
State Budget Office, there were 976,026 persons living within a
6O-mile radius of the proposed reservoir and the adjacent cities
of Denver, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland. This population
represents an increase of slightly over eight percent since 1960
within the foregoing described zone of recreation influence.
