The installed capacity <br /> <br />of the main stem power plants totals 2,048,000 kilowatts. <br /> <br />Navigation tonnage during calendar year 1971 equaled the record year of 1967 <br /> <br />with 2,566,000 tons carried on the river. A full 8 months navigation season <br /> <br />is anticipated for calendar year 1971. The navigation and bank stabilization <br />projects continued under construction during fiscal year 1971 and will con- <br />tinue in fiscal years 1972 and 1973. In addition to these projects certain <br />recreation facilities will be constructed at oxbow lake areas, including <br /> <br />access roads. Construction was started in several lokations during fiscal <br /> <br />year 1971 and others to be under construction in f~scal years 1972 and 1973. <br /> <br />During fiscal year 1971, widening of the Snake Creek embankment, Garrison <br /> <br /> <br />Dam and Lake Sakakawea, to expand U. S. Highway 83 to four lanes, co- <br /> <br /> <br />ordinated with the North Dakota Highway Department, continued under con- <br /> <br />struction and will continue in fiscal year 1971 and 1972. <br /> <br />The third stage housing development project at Fort Peck Lake, Montana, was <br /> <br />completed during fiscal year 1971. <br /> <br />?,'t~1 <br /> <br />Under construction at Big Bend Dam - Lake Sharpe during fiscal year 1971 were <br />remote control facilities at the power plant and public use facilities. <br />Co~struction of public use facilities, visitor center, comfort stations and <br /> <br />miscellaneous buildings will continue into fiscal years 1972 and 1973. <br /> <br />At Oahe Dam - Lake Oahe acquisition of lands and construction of relocations, <br /> <br />2 <br />
