Budgets numbered one through nine <br /> <br />relate the 1977 per acre cos t and returns for malt barley, feed barley, . <br /> <br />and potatoes for three situations, i.e. the center pivot circular area, <br /> <br />. <br />the center pivot comers under conventional surface irrigation. and <br /> <br />the .150 acre area utilizing a center pivot extended boom "corner system." <br /> <br />Budget 1110 relates the annual per acre cost of establishing and main- <br /> <br />taining a permanent cover for wind erosion and noxious weed control <br /> <br />and wildlife habitat. As noted. the average annual cost for establishment <br /> <br />and maintenance is over $51.00 per acre per year. Budgets #11 through 26 <br /> <br />relate cost and returns of various combinations of crops and comer use. <br /> <br />The last six budgets relate 1974 cost and returns for malt barley, feed <br /> <br />barley and potatoes for the center pivot circular area and for the comer <br /> <br />areas. <br /> <br />Bud~et Comparisons. 1974-1977 <br /> <br />The budgets clearly indicate the economic impacts of the cost-price <br /> <br />shifts which took place in the San Luis Valley between 1974 and 1977 due <br /> <br />- 12 - <br />
