Box 1156 <br />Lamar, Colorado 81052 <br /> <br />Dear Lane: <br /> <br />The cost of operating the compact gaging station -- Arkansas River at <br />Lamar --, maintenance of transmitting equipment, preparation of records <br />for the annual report, and extra work involved to increase the accuracy <br />of the records has increased. For several years this work has been <br />funded at $8,000 per year ($4,000 each party). <br /> <br />Because of the increased cost of personnel and equipment, the cost of <br />doing the above work has increased to $8,800 per year ($4,400 each <br />party). . <br /> <br />The fiscal year for the federal government is being changed effective <br />in 1976 to a October 1 - September 30 period. In order to minimize <br />contracts, paper work, etc., we would like to make next year's contract <br />read from July I, 1976, to September 30, 1977 (a IS-month period) at a <br />total cost of $11,000 ($5,500 each party). The cost per 12-month period <br />remaining at $8,800 per year ($4,400 each party). <br /> <br />If you and the Arkansas River Compact Administration agree to this change, <br />the next contract will be prepared in this manner. Otherwise we will <br />have to have two contracts covering the same period (July 1 - September 30, <br />1976, and October I, 1976, to September 30, 1977). <br /> <br />R. U.
