This is far less than the 80,000 tons of salt anticipated <br />to he carried by the underflow. <br /> <br />Two significant findings from this drilling program were: <br />(1) the high salinity underflow did not exist as had been estimated <br />using the data available, and (2) the available data on water flows <br />end salt content were inadequate to provide a credible analysis of <br />salt and water balance in the Lower Virgin River. It was then decided <br />that a detailed program of data gathering and analysis along the <br />entire river reach was needed to determine whether salt loading was <br />occurring. <br /> <br />18 <br />
