<br />~f',': f:, rt':. <br />;~) ~.. ~, ,.' -; .,) <br /> <br />FOREWORD <br /> <br />This report is about the stewardship of one of Colorado's most <br />val uable natural resources--the South Platte River and its tributaries. <br /> <br />It considers ways that scientific knowledge and the experience of water <br />users and administrators can be used for voluntary decisionmaking. It <br />is intended to help set the stage for individual and group actions that <br />will result in increased opportunities for integrated water management <br />in the ,South Platte Basin, with corresponding improvements in efficiency <br />of water use and reduction of confl icts over its use. Workshops are <br />proposed to demonstrate the expected utility of new technological <br />advances di scussed in the report, to encourage di scussion of ways these <br />technologies can best be utilized and to solicit comments arid <br />suggestions for their implementation. <br />The report has been prepared by the "South Platte Research Team,r' <br />an interdisciplinary and inter-university group working through the <br />Colorado Water Resources Research Institute (CWRRI). Members of the <br />team include: Norman A. Evans and Ililliam Raley of the Institute staff; <br />CSU faculty members Henry Caulfield (Political Science), Robert Young <br />(Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics), Neil Grigg, David <br />Hendricks, John Labadie and Hubert Morel-Seytoux (Civil Engineering), <br />David McWhorter (Agricul tural and Chemical Engineering); and CU Facul ty <br /> <br /> <br />member J.
