~

.

.

~

njC~1
u ..[l~..

to the Rio Grande, in 1937.

It has a decreed right for 20 cfs.

The ditch is on the divide and therefore is restricted by snowpack

during some irrigation seasons. However, during most years, this

ditch provides a substantial amount of water to irrigators on the

Rio Grande side. In 1975. the Weminuche pass diversion transported

1,550 AF to the Rio Grande basin, by far the largest amount diverted

from the Colorado to the Rio Grande basin.

The pine River-Weminuche Pass Ditch (Fuchs Ditch) diverts from

the North Fork of the pine River to Weminuche Creek. It has a

decree for 18 cfs. The ditch is also located on the divide between

the two drainages and is faced with the same limitations as the

Weminuche Pass Ditch. The pine River-Weminuch Pass Ditch went into

service in 1937. The ditch is smaller than the weminuche Pass Ditch;

in 1975, it diverted only 123 AF.

ALM:tam

-4-
