.

31

.

thOl storage of the increased Fort Collins return flOl-TS
under the plains storage rights. This increase was
determined as the difference between the historic diver~
sion to storage of 76,500 acre-feet per year (Col 1,
Ta.ble 6) and the total diversion to storage under the
anticipated combined operation of 81,000 acre-feet per .
year (Col 9, Table 6) 7--~------~------------------~ 4,500 AF!.Yr

3--Eva,pora.tion savings. The abandonment and diminished
use of some plains reservoirs due to the consolidation
vill reduce the evaporation and seepage losses by an
estimated 2,400 acre-feet a year. This rough estiL1flte
of saving was assumed to occur each year and has not
been sufficiently defined to include in any operation
studies ---~---------------------------------------- 2,400 AF/Yr

Tota11fater developed by the consolidation, capacity
replacement, and transfer of plains storage
rights -------------------------------------------13,000 AF/Yr

.

The estiLated historic operation of the storage decrees in
the plains reservoirs is summarized in Table 6. The anticipated
combined operation of the storage decrees in the consolidated
storage ~n the unit reservoirs and in the remaining plains reservoirs
is also sUllmarized in Table 6.

The average annual release of the water stored under the trans-
ferred decrees from Grey Mountain Reservoir is 33,100 acre-feet and
the averl1ge annual release from the remaining plains reservoirs is
37,100 acre-feet, giving a combined annual release of 70,200 acre-
feet. The increased average annual release over the historic
release of 59,600 acre-feet is 10,600 acre-feet. The water savings
realized by the evaporation and seepage reduction of 2,400 acre-
feet per year vouJ.d be in addition to this increased release, giving
a total ,nater developed by the consolidation of 13,000 acre-feet
per year as indicated in Table 6.

The Carriage Lo~

It was assumed in these hydrologic studies that the irrigation
releases from storage at Grey MOUJ1tain Reservoir vould be reduced by
a carriage loss estiL1flted at 10 percent of the release. This loss
applies to the releases from the plains reservoir consolidation at
Grey Mountain Reservoir of 33,100 acre-feet per year(Co1. 5,
Table 6) and to the 6,100 acre-feet per year of stored surplus
