I am testifying today on
behalf of Colorado's representatives to the Colorado River Basin
Salinity Control E'or.u"1: '1r. ;"onte Pasr:ce, Executive Director of
the Colorado De~artment'of Natural Resources; Dr. Robert ~rnott.
;ssistant Director of the C~lorado nepart~ent of Health; and Mr.
Oav~d Robbins, for"1er Colorado Deputy 'ttornev General now in
private practice in Denver, Colorado. In my capacity as Director
of the Colorado Water Conservation Board, I am Mr. Pascoe's.
alternate to the Forum and one of Colorado's representatives to
the Forum's work group.

Summary of Statement

Colorado favors enactment of S. 2202, a bill concerning
amendments to the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act of
1974 (P.L. 93-320). The program authorized by Title II of the
Act is an integral component of the effort to control the
salinity of the Colorado River. It is important that this
program now.be updated and expanded to reflect the information
and understanding gained since the passage of the Act.

We recommend only one minor change to the bill as
introduced. Paragraph (12) of Section 1 of the bill would strike
a sentence from the original Act. This seems to be a drafting
error which needs to be corrected by deleting paragraph (12) from
the bill.

d183
jwm/test
