<br />Navajo Reservoir <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />During water year 1978 Navajo Reservoir <br />was kept within the limits specified by the <br />Bureau of Reclamation in its interim <br />operating rules, The Reservoir water sur- <br />face was lowered to elevation 6022 feet <br />during the winter of 1977 and spring of <br />1978, The actual April-July inflow to Navajo <br />Reservoir was 526,000 acre-feet or 72 <br />percent of the longtime April through July <br />runoff average, <br /> <br />Navajo Reservoir is operated under a <br />normal flood control plan, On March 1, <br />1976, Navajo Reservoir had 935,000 acre- <br />feet of water storage, The April-July inflow <br />forecast on March 1 was 700,000 acre-feet. <br />Based on the March 1 forecast the current <br />flood control rules allowed the Reservoir to <br />be full and the scheduled operation oi the <br />Reservoir did not. include any releases <br />specifically for flood control.
