<br />, , <br /> <br />---::-'"~--- <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, ~ <br /> <br />~(f- "11 <br />,''''CEIVED,i <br />"128 <br /> <br /> <br />THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR <br />WASHINGTON <br /> <br />Vater <br />, 60InI <br /> <br />OCT I 1998 <br /> <br />Honorable Al Gore <br />President of the Senate <br />Washington, D,C. 20510 <br /> <br />Dear Mr, President: <br /> <br />J <br /> <br />The Department of the Interior is pleased to transmit to the Congress the enclosed Report to <br />Congress: Operations of Glen Canyon Dam Pursuant to the Grand Canyon Protection Act of 1992. <br />This report was prepared pursuant to the provisions of Title XVIII-Grand Canyon Protection Act <br />of Public Law 102-575, which states: <br /> <br />Each year after the date of the adoption of criteria and operating plans pursuant to <br />paragraph (1). the Secretary shall transmit to the Congress and to the Governors of the <br />Colorado River Basin States a report, separate from and in addition to the report specified <br />in section 602(b) of the Colorado River Basin Project Act of 1968 on the preceding year <br />and the projected year operations undertaken pursuant to this Act. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Therefore, this is the first Report to Congress since the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management <br />Work Group was established in January 1997 and the operating criteria for Glen Canyon Dam were <br />put into place. By adopting the Report to Congress: Operations of Glen Canyon Dam Pursuant to <br />the Grand Canyon Protection Act of 1992 (Water Years 1997 and 1998) and its Appendices, I am <br />adopting the Glen Canyon Dam Annual Plan of Operations for Water Year 1998 (Appendix C of the <br />Report). <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />Enclosure <br /> <br />~~~ <br />
