O~2592

5.0 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES

5,1 INTRODUCTION

5.1,1 This chapter evaluates the environmental Impacts that would be
expected from construction and operation of each of the four reservoir
alternatives or the construction of Infiltration galleries. The
Impacts discussed are those that would significantly affect the
quality of the human environment. An Impact is considered significant
If It: 1) Is controversial; 2) is of high public Interest or
concern; 3) substantially affects the human environment; or 4)
concerns a subject protected by law, Unavoidable adverse Impacts are
negative Impacts that remain despite mitigation efforts, Table 5 - 5
contains a summary of the environmental effects. Table 5 - 5 contains
a summary of the environmental consequences of the alternatives
considered In this report. A summary of the alternatives considered
Is as follows:

1) Alternative A: Dam at Taylor Draw with
Crest elevation of 5329 feet (1624 m).

2) Alternative B: Dam at Taylor Draw with
Crest elevation of 5345 feet (1629 m),

3) Alternative C: Dam at Taylor Draw with
Crest elevation of 5321 feet (1622 m).

4) Alternative D: Dam approximately 1.3 rrliles (2.1 ~)
upstream of Taylor Draw with
Crest elevation of 5321 feet (1622 m),

5) Alternative E: Construction of infiltration
galleries beneath the White River to
obtain ground water.

I
6) No Action

41

1
