Because Highway 64 passes by the dam site,
material shipped from other areas would probably come via the highway,
Several dirt roads leading to and fran fields and dwellings within the
reservoir basin would be Inundated. An access road to get to Borrow
Area E and the primary riprap source would require crossing the White
River with a haul road approximately 1.75 miles (2.8 km) long, Sane
fill would be required within the White River, the amount depending
upon the method used by the contractor to cross the river, This fill
would be removed prior to inundation. At the upper end of the
reservoir, a road and bridge leading to the Deserado Mine will be
relocated prior to construction of the Taylor Draw Reservoir, Several
new roads within the reservoir basin would have to be built to provide
access to borrow areas. These too may require fill within the White
River, A 3500 lineal foot (1067 m) section of Colorado Highway 64
would have to be relocated to the east to accommodate the reservoir.
Borrow material for the relocation would cane fran hillside cuts and
borrow areas within the basin,

2.2.6 Applicants Proposed Mitigation Measures

2.2,6,1 Revegetation - It Is anticipated that most of the borrow

materials would be removed from areas excavated for project features

(borrow areas, roads, channels, etc.). The borrow areas above the

high water line would be shaped to blend with the surrounding area,

The disturbed area would be reseeded with natural cover to prevent

erosion, except in the riprap area where little or no vegetation

exists.

17

M_ .,it
