002lJJ4

Initial Information Package
Williams Fork Hydroelectric Project
FERC Project No. 2204

The cumulative winter snowpack in the region (liquid water equivalent) is about
14.75 inches. This figure is applicable to the surrounding mountain ranges but
not to the basin of Middle Park. At the Kremmling station the average cumulative
November through March snowpack totals about 3.3 inches. The snows in the
surrounding ranges, however, are important for the basin because meltwater from
them accounts for about 85 percent of the area's total streamflow.14 Even when
summer droughts occur, major drainages such as the Colorado River and the
Williams Fork River continue to flow and are a reliable water source.

3.0 GENERAL ENGINEERING DESIGN

3.1 Detailed Description

3.1.1 STRUCTURES

DAM AND WEST DIKE
The Williams Fork Dam is a concrete arch structure. The concrete dam
includes a spillway section. as well as an outlet works and penstock. In
addition to the concrete dam, a 2,000-foot long earth dam (west dike)
closes off a low saddle on the west side of the reservoir.

I

Table 3.1.1 - Dam Features

-, ~~ -- >". -..
.F ...

^....~-_., - - - .. -." ,'-:' ::. ,- - -

_. =_":._1.
