......0
:.":;~:~':i CHAPTER II
........4

~
Ul
C..rl
C..n

GRAND VALLEY RIVER BUDGET

Municipal Imports

Municipal imports are composed of Grand Junction, Clifton, and Ute Water

Conaervancy District imports. The Grand Junction imports to the budget were

the imports from Kannah Creek only and were determined by subtracting the

Gunnison Riv,er Diversion (which began in .1974) from the total water

processed. The records of total water processed were available for 1958

through 1975 on an annual basis. Total annual processed water was correlated

to population based on the period 1958 through 1978 and this regression was

used to estimate the pre~1958 annual processed water. The city also had

. monthly, records of municipal consumptive use for 1970 though 1979. From

these records, the average monthly distribution of consumptive use was cslcu~

. .:;..~~:
":"/~

lated and in turn used to distribute the annual processed water over the

months for the period prior to 1976. The town of Clifton imported water from

Kannsh Creek through Grand Junction's system beginning in 1968. Their

monthly records were available with '.the exception of the months of January

through. November 1977 wh~ch were interpolated. Ute Water Conservancy
District began service in 1965 and their records were obtained through 1979.

The 1980 Ute Water imports were estimated by extrapolating the average annual

increase from 1975 to 1979. The quality of all municipal imports was esti-

mated to be a constant 75 mg/L total dissolved solids based on the flow

weighted mean TDS of Kannah Creek near Grand Junction's Diversion.

,~::~
. .~:~.. j

II-9
