It is the first clear-cut <br />mandate Congress has ever given to <br />the Bureau of Land M.magemen t for <br />the administration of the 473 million <br />acres of Federal lands under its juris- <br />diction. In acres, this is more land <br />than is held by all the other Federal <br />agencies combined. <br />
