<br />,~ <br /> <br />}..JE ~ .reD <br /> <br />00'6496 <br /> <br />April 14, 1999 <br /> <br />Present for the regular scheduled board meeting that started at 7:00PM were board members <br />Calvin Melcher, Jean Dorenkamp, David Willhite, Bob Arambel, Terry Widener, sec, Shari <br />Wagner, Jim Valliant - Extension Irrigation Specialist out of Rocky Ford, and representing the <br />NRCS were Susan Lucius and Barbara Barnett. <br /> <br />March minutes were approved as read, <br /> <br />Financial report for the month was read and approved with Arambel making the motion to <br />approve the report Jean seconded the motion Motion carried, Just as a note, the board would <br />like to see a Profit and Loss Report for the year to date each meeting, Also Wagner asked where <br />the Strong Fund should be placed in the computer, Most agreed to try the Asset occount at this <br />time and to see how it works out. <br /> <br />Old Busincss: <br />Jim Valliant updated us on the 319 Wildhorse Watershed grant. Kathleen Riley with the <br />Department of Health, Jim as well as Barbara Barnett and at least one board member will meet in <br />Rocky Ford at the Extension Office, April 20th at 10:00AM, At that time there will be a few final <br />adjustments to the wording of the contract. Out of 30 applications, we ranked 11th With this <br />contract, we will be able to use our time at 319 meetings as in-kind monies, Taking tours with <br />319 people, There is a possibility of receiving 2 weather stations in the Wild horse Creek area, <br />Jim had asked and was approved to delay the funding until October. We will need to set up <br />voluntary BMP's such as salinity monitoring, drag hoses on sprinklers, and polyacrilamide in <br />irrigation trials, We will also need to keep track of technical time as well as when Shari goes out <br />to record the test well sites, <br /> <br />As for the CWCB grant, the Drainage Cleaning project has run out of money, David Willhite <br />moved to reallocate State FY99 money for subsurface drainage projects to the surface drainage <br />project and replace the money in the FY2000 phase with money from the surface drainage project. <br />This motion was seconded by Robert Arambel. Motion carried, <br /> <br />Jim said there is a Phase II which will go to the legislation May 5 for approval. <br /> <br />Jim has already talked with Bub McGee for using surge irrigation and PAM on his forage <br />sorghum, We will be needing a cooperative agreement between CWCB, the extension office and <br />the Northeast Prowers District office, <br /> <br />Paul Frank plans on using drags with his sprinkler system, <br /> <br />Cory Thompson will be using PAM on his corn this year. <br /> <br />The phone bill was questioned as we seem to be getting quite a few different bills, Discussion <br />was to use a different card or carrier. <br />
