These will
be discussed in terms of growth potentials.

WATER QUALITY

Water quality aspects of each alternative will be discussed. Three topics
of concern will be examined: (1) the water quality associated with project
features, (2) the water quality impacts on San Carlos Reservoir and the Gila
River downstream of the project features, and (3) the water auality effects
on downstream Gila River exchanges. Eutrophication, dissolved solids
concentration, anoxic conditions, and other water quality aspects will be
discussed as they relate to potential project uses and current projected
downstream uses of the Gila River.

RECREATION

Currently the project area has a variety of recreational opportunities.
While these opportunities are dispersed in nature, most are water-dependent
or water-related. These recreational activities include birdwatching,
fishing (warmwater), river rafting, picnicking and associated day uses,
camping and hunting. There is very little recreational facility development
in the area, however the quantity of public land available for recreational
use is significant.

Recreational information presented in the EIS will discuss the existing
recreational areas and uses, impacts to these areas, as well as display and
address conceptual recreation plans (recreation areas, proposed development
and associated activities, and potential management) for each alternative.
Recreational data will be displayed by acres of land and water, activity
days for each specific use, potential for facility development, acreage and
location of proposed recreation sites, and potential management.

OTHER ITEMS

Other items to be addressed in the EIS include: conflicts with other agency
programs, plans, or policies; irreversible and irretrievable commitments of
resources; compliance with other environmental statutes, such as the Clean
Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.

8
