The "Metro Contributions' clearly show a

marked increase for the 1964-l981 period (llS,400 acre-feet

annually) ,as against the 1941-1963 period (40,800 acre-feet

annually). Also to be noted is the almost doubling of the import

tations u~der the Grand River Ditch, the Eureka Ditch, and the

Alva B. A(/ams Tunnel from 137,800 acre-feet per year in the

1941-1963!period to 247,000 acre-feet per year in the 1964-l9&1

period. The total water introduced into the South platte RiveI

Basin mor. than doubled from 178,600 acre-feet per year from

1941-1963to 362,400 acre-feet per year in 1964-1981.

Have 'these importations and introductions of water changed

the call patterns so noticeably? The author believes so, not so~

much as to the singular effect of the Roberts Tunnel, but as to

the more ~eneral effect of the general increase in all of the

importations and introductions of water into the South Platte

River Basin.

As noted previously, Figure 6 evidences a most noticeable

increase in the so-called "Metro Contributions." The rationale

for creation of the species, "Metro Contributions," lay in the

desire to focus more selectively on calls from District 2, which,

on the wh~le, is located immediately downstream from the

Metropo1i~an Denver area. It is in District 2 that some of the

larger calling rights lie which would exert their presence upon

the upstream, metropolitan water users in Water District 8.

-14-

"-,,;,, .~ ~_'^ ,,,;;, '. 01

:,"'1
'"
,-"!

,',.,'

"
