The first appropriation for the d~ was grantEd <br />by thE. 80th Congress, 1st Session, (Public Lew 299), a supplemental <br />appropriation mee.surCo which ,11ottCod funds to the l'iissouri River Basin <br />dEvelop,nent. <br /> <br />The essential fCoQturE of the p12n of development is the ~2rrows <br />Dam ,end rtcservoir on the' South i'le.ttE RivCor about sCoven miles west <br />of the town of Fort l'lorge.n. The purpose of this r( servoir is to <br />provid" flood control end irrigc tion storr'.E"~, with incidentc.l sediment, <br />fish and wildlifE, and recreation benEfits. Floods on Bijou Creek <br />will bE controlled by diversion of th2t crEek into N2rrows Reservoir. <br /> <br />Alternate Damsites.--In selectinp, th~ most feasible sitE. for a <br />resErvoir to ilccoinplish Dood control 2nd conservation storage for the <br />lower re2ch of the South Platte RiVer, studi0s were made of six dif- <br />fErent drunsitES on the South Platte RiVer in Morgan end Weld Counties, <br />Color2do.
