Plannmg work continued on the Paradox
Valley and Grand Valley Umts, Colorado: and
the Las Vegas Wash Unit, Nevada. which were
authorized by the Colorado River 8asm
Salinity Control Act (p.L. 9J..320, June 24,
1974) This work included drilling 01 18 brine
production lest welts in Paradox Valley and
preparation of a OPR (Definite Plan Report)
and supporting appendices; selection 01 a
stage 1 area to begin constructton In Grand
Valley; preparation of a draft environmental
assessment for Grand Valley; and a draft en-
vironmental statement lor Paradox Valley.
Work performed on the Las Vegas Wash Unit
included research of bnne evaporation
enhancement to reduce the size 01 evaporation
ponds The OPR and supporting appendiCes
and draft enYironmental statement were
completed,
Feasibility studies continued on 13 other units
authorized for investigation. Collection of sur.
face and ground water flow and quality data

the Upper Colorado Riyer Basin concentrated
on: (1) The Lower Gunnison (Uncompahgre)
and Uinta Basin Units improvement-lining
and structures for the canals and laterals and

stripS, etc., and Instructions for IMS (lrngalton
Management Scheduling) to Improve the sched-
uling of irrigation applications;
(2) McElmo Creek UnIl-devIslng a plan to
prevent salts from entering the creek, and Meeker
Dome Unll-preventlng saline seeps from
enterrng the White RIver. Concentrated plan-
ning activities In the Lower Colorado River
Basin were centered on LaVerkln Springs-

collecting and removing saline flows from the
springs to be desalted or to be evaporated in
ponds_
The Colorado River Basin Salinity Control
Forum continued Its studies for revtSlng the
"Water Quality Standards for Salinity, Inclualng
Numeric Cntena and Plan of Implementation
for Salinlly Control, Colorado River System,"
