<br />OOJSj3 <br /> <br />of Agriculture to effectuate purposes of the Act and to provide <br /> <br />safeguards against river pollution and unnecessary impairment of <br /> <br />scenic values. <br /> <br />Each component .of the national ",ild and scenic r~'lers <br /> <br />system shall be administered in such manner as to protect and <br /> <br />enhance those values which caused it to be included in the system <br /> <br />without limiting other uses that do not substantially interfere <br /> <br />with public use and enjoyment of these values.. <br /> <br />To summarize the effects that wild and scen~c river <br /> <br />designation can have on water resource utilization. and development: <br /> <br />I. Water resource development could be curtailed if it <br /> <br />would have a "direct and adverse effect on the values for which the <br /> <br />r1ver was established." <br /> <br />2. Water users in "wild" rivers most likely would not <br /> <br />be able to use motorized means to clean and repair their ditches. <br /> <br />However, it is unlikely that river segments containing diversions <br /> <br />would ever be designated as wild. <br /> <br />3. Existing water uses and practices 1n "scenic" and <br /> <br />"recreational" rivers should not be affected. <br /> <br />Now lets discuss the Dolores River and its wild and <br /> <br />scenic river study. <br /> <br />Four segments of the Dolores River were <br /> <br />designated for study by P.
