a close correspondence to areas of greatest decline of water
level and to areas of greatest pumpage of ground water.
On OCtober -20. the river from La Junta to Las Animas showed
a net loss of 0.5 cfs. This measurement is almost the

same as the May 15 measurement. The main cause for the

increase in return flow as compared with that of JUly 17

was the Shutting off of the irrigation wells in late

September. However. it should be noted that these reaches

of 10s8 or gain are not absolutely determined. If more

measurement could have been made, the correlation with the

change maps would have been better.

This type of information will also be programmed into

the model to test its performance. When the model has been

throughly tested and refined it will then be poSSible to

predict and measure the effects of future changes in
