To a certain extent these conditions are <br /> <br />beginning to appear on the horizon. <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />\ Colo,ado Wato, Connervation Boa,d, unde, ita delogated logialative <br /> <br />In recognition of the need for an overall plan, the <br /> <br />authority, initiated steps in 1970 leading to the formulation of <br /> <br />a state Water Plan. Beginning in fiscal year 1970, federal funds <br /> <br />were budgeted by the Bureau of Reclillnation, which will have the <br /> <br />primary responsibility for making the, study. Close coordination <br /> <br />will be maintained with the Colorado Water Conservation Board and <br /> <br />other state and federal agencies in the formulation of the State <br /> <br />Water Plan. The Bureau's work will be accomplished by its three <br /> <br />Regional Offices in Salt Lake City, Denver and Amarillo. Coordi- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />nation with other federal agencies will be accomplished by the <br /> <br />Bureau. <br /> <br />The ultimate objective is to develop a long range <br /> <br />state-wide wa~erplan with investigations consisting of the follow- <br /> <br />ing three phases: <br /> <br />The initial phase of the planning work consists of a <br /> <br />compilation of statistical data on and an inventory of the natural <br /> <br />resources of the state and the current status of development and <br /> <br />use of these resources. The base year for compilation of data <br />1'170 <br />will be l-96B-. An interim report surrunarizing this phase will be <br /> <br />prepared and is scheduled for completion by January 1, 1972. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The second phase of the program will involve an in-depth <br /> <br />()o'?>~ <br /> <br />-2- <br />
