This <br />study is [0 de'lermine if the Piedra <br />River is suitable for addition to <br />. the Nationo1l1 Wild and Scenic <br />River System. Congress directed <br />it to cover the Piedra River from <br />Highway 160 upstream to its <br />sources including the Middle <br />Fork, East Fork. and tributaries <br />u:d headwaters on National <br />Forest lands. This encompasses <br />over 237.000 acte'i. euending <br />from Highway 160 on the south to <br />the Continental Divide on the <br />north. <br />"The people at the informa- <br />tional meeting indiC'ated a desire <br />for specifiC' invohemenl during <br />the course of the study and in the <br />final determination of recom- <br />mendation'io to the President and <br />c.ongress.
