<br />Location.--Water-stage recorder, !at 37005', long 105045', in sec.22, T.33 N., R.ll E., on right bank just down-
<br />stream from highway bridge, 6 miles north of Colorado-New Mexico State line, 10 miles east of Lobatos, and
<br />14 miles east of Antonito. Datum of gage is 7,426.79 ft above mean sea level, datum of 1929.
<br />
<br />Drainage area.--7,700 sq mi, approximately (includes 2,940 sq roi in closed basin in San Luis Valley).
<br />
<br />Average discharge.--64 years (1900-64), 616 cfs (446,000 acre-ft per year).
<br />
<br />Extremes,--1899-1964: Maximum discharge observed, 13,200 cfa June 8,1905, (gage height, 9.1 it), from rating
<br />curve extended above 8,000 cis; no flow at times in 1950-51, 1956.
<br />
<br />Remarks.--Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Natural flow of streams affected by
<br />transmountain diversions, storage reservoirs, ground-water withdrawals and diversions for irrigation, and
<br />return flow from irrigated areas.

<br />Location.--Water-stage recorder, lat 36034'50", long 106043'30", in Tierra Amarilla Grant, 1.5 miles downstream
<br />from EI Vado Dam, 2.7 miles upstream from Rio Nutrias, and 13 miles southwest of Tierra Amarilla, Rio
<br />Arriba County. Datum of gage is 6,696.12 it above mean sea level, datum of 1929. Prior to October 1935, at
<br />site 1.5 miles upstream and October 1935 to September 1938, at site 1.1 miles upstream at different datum.

<br />Drainage area.--877 sq mi.
<br />
<br />Average discharge.--4 years (1914, 1921-23), 444 cis prior to completion of dam; 29 years (1936-64) 383 cfs
<br />(272,200 acre-it per year) subsequent to completion of El Vado Dam.
<br />
<br />Extremes.--HH4-16, 1920-24, 1936-64: Maximum discharge observed, 9,000 cfs May 22, 1920 (gage height, 12 it);
<br />no flow Mar. 25, 26, 31,1955.
<br />
<br />Remarks.--Records are good except those for some winter months, which are (Klor. Diversions above station for
<br />irrigation of about 8,000 acres. Since 1935 flow regulated by El Vade Reservoir.
