It has a flow of about 11.5 <br />cubic feet per second and a salinity concentration of 9,650 <br />mg/L which amoun~s to 109,000 tons annually. <br /> <br />A feasibility report was forwarded to the Commissioner's <br />Office in December, 1974, which proposed collecting and <br />desalting the springs and then evaporating the remaining <br />brine in ponds. The salt load would have been reduced by <br />103,000 tons and the salinity at Imperial Dam by 10 mg/L. <br />However, due to high costs and a possible hydraulic connec- <br />tion between 'La Verkin and Littlefield Springs which may <br />take years to surface, this plan has been scrapped. <br /> <br />Additional alernatives including deep well injection, <br />power plant cooling and evaporation in a dry lake bed are <br />currently being examined.
