<br />Page 4 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Where does the Revision Process <br />Go From Here? <br /> <br />We Me currently working <br />on gathenng existing <br />condition information and <br />completing a variety of <br />resource related <br />assessments. <br /> <br />In laiC' summer we will <br />continue our public <br />involvement process with a <br />series of field trips 10 <br />discuss specific resource <br />lopics. <br /> <br />In the early fall we will have <br />a series of public meetings <br />designed 10 actj~'e1y involve <br /> <br />the public in the revision <br />process. The results of lhe~ <br />meetings will provide <br />valuable information 10 help <br />in the formulation of <br />alternatives. <br /> <br />In early wimer we will <br />identify general ahernative <br />themes. and begin <br />translating these [0 maps. <br /> <br />In (he spring of 2002 we <br />will share these preliminary <br />ahernati\'C's with [he public <br />and make ~ed changes <br />and design additional <br /> <br />alternatives as needed. <br /> <br />In the summer of 2002 we <br />y,.'i!1 then analyze the effects <br />of the alternatives. and in <br />late 2002. publish a Draft <br />Environmenlallmpacl <br />Stalement (DEIS). This <br />DEIS will be available for <br />public re\'iew for 90 days. <br /> <br />Analysis of public <br />comments and changes to <br />the Draft will result in a <br />Final Environmental Impact <br />Sutemem (FEIS) in late <br />2003. <br /> <br />Public Involvement - Collaboration <br /> <br />Coming this fall, the <br />Institute for <br />Environment and <br />Natural Resources at <br />the University of <br />Wyoming. working with <br />the Medicine Bow <br />National Forest, and the <br />State of Wyoming will <br />facilitate the <br />development of three <br />collaborative efforts. <br />These groups, one each <br /> <br />in Laramie, Saratoga, <br />and Douglas, will work <br />together on <br />opportunities and issues <br />of mutual concern <br />regarding management <br />of the Medicine Bow <br />National Forest. <br /> <br />We are currently in the <br />process of developing <br />summer field trips to <br />learn more about <br /> <br />management activities <br />on the forest.
