<br />o <br />";:) <br />.... <br />w:.. <br />-...1 <br />c.J1 <br /> <br />Soil Conservation Service <br /> <br />RED RIVER BASIN ABOVE DENISON DAM <br /> <br />COMPREHENSIVE RIVER BASIN SURVEYS AND INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />56, RED RIVER BASIN ABOVE DENISON DAM, OK, TX, AND NM <br />STATUS: The USDA investigations began in fiscal year 1971. All survey <br />investigations and project formulation studies are complete. The <br />coordinated report including the main report and five (5) appendices, <br />were reviewed and accepted by the Field Coordinating Committee in <br />November 1977. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />The Red River Basin above Denison Dam comprises about 39,678 square <br />miles in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. <br /> <br />A Level B comprehensive river basin survey was completed in September <br />1977 by the USDA and other federal and state agencies. The basic <br />purpose of the investigation was to formulate a plan of development for <br />the Red River Basin above Denison Dam that will provide the best use, <br />or combination of uses,. of the water and related land resources of the <br />basin to meet all foreseeable short and long term needs. The U. S. Soil <br />Conservation Service, the U. S.'Forest Service and the Economic Research <br />Service conducted the USDA part of the study. <br /> <br />COOPERATING AGENCIES: <br />The Texas Water Development Board, Texas State Soil and Water Conservation <br />Board, Interagency Council on Natural Resources and the Environment, <br />The Texas Water Rights Commission, the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, <br />and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. <br /> <br />PUBLIC LAW 566 WATERSHEDS <br /> <br />27, KENT CREEK, TX <br />STATUS: Approved for installation August 3, 1972. Construction is completed. <br />Repair work is in progress. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />Size - 27,008 <br />Location - Briscoe and Hall Counties <br />Purpose - Watershed protection and flood l'revention <br />Structural Measures - 6 floodwater retarding structures and 7.5 miles <br />of channel modification <br /> <br />SPONSORS: <br />Cap Rock Soil and Water Conservation District <br />Hall County Soil and Water Conservation District <br />Kent Creek Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 <br />Hall County Commissioner's Court <br /> <br />151 <br />
