The contracts for the snle of Hoover !lam <br />enerKY are between the United States and privnte and puhlic ar.encies. <br />including: ArIzona, llevada, Metropoli tan \,ater !lis tric t of Southern <br />California, Cities of llurbank, Glendale, Pasadena, and Los Anf,ele~, <br />California, and Southern California edison. 1hese contracts will remain <br />in effect until 1987, ",hich is the end of the lloulder Canyon Project <br />50-year repayment period. <br /> <br />The reimbursable investment in Hoover Dam, powerplant, and <br />appurtenant facilities is approximately $172 mUlion. This ohligation <br />is being repaid in accordance with the Boulder Canyon Project power <br />contracts of 1930 and the Boulder Canyon Project Adjustment Act of 1940. <br />TIle rate of repayment, after operation and maIntenance cost6 are <br />deducted, is approximately $7 million per year. At that rate of <br />amortization, $147 million will be repaid to the United States Treasury, <br />",ith interest, by 1987. The remBininf, $25 million of reimhursable <br />project cost is allocated to flood control, and ,-epRyrnent has been <br />deferred without interest until June 1, 1987. After that d"te, <br />repayt:\ent of the $25 million to the U. S. Treasury '"ill be at the <br />diacretion of the Congress. <br /> <br />The relmbursable investment in the Par\cer-Davi s proj ec t 1s <br />approximately $140 million. Repayment of the Parker-Davis proj ec t i" <br />in accordance with the provisions of the l(eclamatIon Project Act of <br />1939 (53 Stat. 1187). <br /> <br />J. _~ntercbangc. As part of the interconnected power system of <br />the \-Iestern United Scates, the Colorado River hydroelectric plRnt6 are <br />connected to an extensive transmission network ",hich allo"'5 much <br />flexibility in operation and economic interchange transactions. <br />Present plans include the c.ontinuation of favorable enerp,y 1nterchange <br />transactions with other utilities.
