DOIo1T1stream water orders may change sip, niftcantlv, from orir, inal
projections, due to unpredictable dry or wet periods in irrIr,ated
areas. When these changes occur, LakeR Moh.1ve find Ilnvllf;u lire uReJ
for short periods to store excess WR.ter or to meet increased dcmllnc1f;.
These deviations are rescheduled into Lake Mend all Boon as practical>lc.
Lakes 110have and Havasu are operated, generally from August through
October, with reserve capacity to allo", for 6torar,e of excess water,
and with sufficient volumes of water, April through June, to meet rapId
increases in water orders. Generally, Hoover Dam releases are not
:lmmediatley responsive to ",eather conditions, unless Lakes ~lohave or
Ilavasu become excess1vely full or 10"'.

A minor amount of modification to the monthly rele.~se schedule
is accomplished by reregulating Lake Head releases in Lakes Mohave and
Havasu for short periods. In addition, water in excess of scheduled
deliveries may be pumped into the Senator '.-lash Regulating Reservoir
for later use and to save water and improve water deliveries to users
in both the United States nnd Hexico.
